Job summary

Bethany Christian Services seeks a Refugee & Immigrant Children Case Manager to support reunification, foster care, and adoption with refugee families across the state. You will handle home studies, case management, and referrals for children and families in a faith-based, supportive environment.

You will work with diverse populations, maintain required documentation, and collaborate with supervisors to plan effective care. Strong bilingual skills and state compliance are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s level degree in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a Social Services field.
  • At least 1 year of prior case management experience in child and family services.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent services to diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate comprehensive case management services.
  • Maintain caseload in compliance with contract terms and agency expectations.
  • Perform home study assessments including interviews and home visits.
  • Document reports, case notes, and contacts in the database on time.
  • Provide psycho-educational information, referrals, outreach, advocacy, and support to children and families.
  • Assess placement safety and appropriateness using social work best practices.
  • Attend weekly supervisor meetings to review cases and plans.
  • Stay updated on agency, state, and federal requirements.

As a Refugee & Immigrant Children Case Manager, you’ll walk alongside refugee and immigrant children as they seek family reunification, older youth preparing for adulthood in a new country, and foster families who give these children a home away from home.

How Your Role Makes a Difference
  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate comprehensive case management services;
  • Maintain a caseload in compliance with contract terms and agency expectations
  • Maintain a home study caseload in compliance with contract terms and agency expectations;
  • Assess potential placements for Refugee & Immigrant Children, to include but not limited to interviews and home study investigations;
  • Perform home study assessments to include calls, interviews, home visits, and accompaniment to community resources, as needed;
  • Complete and document all required reports, case notes, and case contacts in the appropriate database in accordance with the expected timeframes and requirements;
  • Provide psycho-educational information, referrals, outreach, advocacy, and support to children and families;
  • Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement on an ongoing basis using child welfare principles and social work best practices;
  • Serve clients within the entire state of their respective branch as assigned;
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to consult on cases, and to review case plan and direction;
  • Keep abreast of community resources and refer families for support, as needed;
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services;
  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department;
  • May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
What Will Make You Successful
  • Bachelor’s level degree in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a Social Services field from an accredited college;
  • At least one (1) year of prior case management experience in child and family services;
  • Must have a broad knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methodology of social work as acquired through a Bachelor’s level degree;
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish, strongly preferred;
  • Previous experience conducting home studies, strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to service a difference group of clients, to include refugees or other minority families;
  • Mature and stable judgment as well as sensitivity to various cultures and the unique history of refugees;
  • Knowledge of state, community and agency resources for victims of abuse;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills;
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Adheres to all agency and departmental safety procedures including reporting any unsafe practices, equipment and environment, and takes an active role in correcting the unsafe practice, equipment or environment through proper notification channels;
  • Must be able to pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill the essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident;
  • Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Exhibit integrity and good moral character to provide appropriate care;
  • Possess the relevant experience and/or qualifications to work with these clients and clients with special needs; and be properly trained and licensed, as necessary;
  • Must be able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route:
  • TDap or Tdap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one Tdap dose in adulthood.
  • Results of medical examination (as required by State Licensing, including results of TB tests and immunization records);
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
