Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program in Smithers, WV is seeking an Experienced Foster Care Team Lead to mentor staff, provide case consultation, and supervise foster care services across NYAP’s expanding region.

You will maintain a small caseload, coordinate services for youth and families, ensure timely documentation and training, and collaborate with partners to support safety, stability, and community living.

Qualifications

  • Degree in social work or related field; MSW preferred.
  • Current licensure as LSW/LCSW/LGSW per state requirements.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct service with youth and families.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficient with standard office software and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and provide case consultation to staff on a daily basis.
  • Supervise foster care services across the service region.
  • Travel as needed to support youth and families.
  • Ensure timely completion of required documentation and training.
  • Coordinate services across mental health, medical, education, and other supports.
  • Support family reunification and stability efforts with youths.
  • Maintain strong relationships with foster parents and families.

Position Summary

This position works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families served. It works closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners, providing advocacy and support toward the ultimate goal of living safely and successfully in the community. The Leader provides mentoring, case consultation, and support to employees within the assigned department or program, supervises and oversees foster care services within NYAP’s expanding service region, and maintains a small caseload.

Responsibilities
  • Actively supports, represents, and extends the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Provides mentoring, case consultation, and support to program staff on a daily basis.
  • Travels as needed to provide and support services for youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
  • Completes all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Completes all required training in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates, facilitates and monitors services for the youth and families in the community, including mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, independent living, crisis, and social services.
  • Works with program staff to ensure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with assigned foster parents and families of origin.
  • Supports and assists program staff in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangement consistent with the youth’s case plan.
  • Guides and supports program staff in safety assessment, crisis response, and behavioral stabilization services as required to assure safety and stability for youth served.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Actively participates in the regular supervision process.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in social work or a comparable human services field from an accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW).
  • 2 years of experience working in direct service with youth and families.
  • Demonstrated sincere commitment to service and advocacy for youth and families.
  • Valid professional license as required and acceptable by state or contract regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers; knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Driving and Vehicle Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Good driving record.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
