Job summary

Texas Family Initiative is seeking a Foster Care Support Specialist to provide aftercare case management, kinship caregiver support, transitional living assistance, and parenting support within the Texas Foster Care Program. The role promotes child well-being, placement stability, and connecting families with community resources.

Responsibilities include coordinating with case managers, delivering parenting education, and maintaining regular contact with families through various communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two years of experience in child and family services preferred.
• Strong communication, case management, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide up to six months of aftercare support for youth discharged from foster care.
• Support kinship caregivers with verification requirements, navigating the child welfare system, and accessing services.
• Assist youth transitioning to independent living by coordinating with case managers and support programs.
• Deliver parenting education and support, including child development, safe sleep, childproofing, and access to community resources.
• Develop and implement individualized aftercare service plans.
• Maintain regular contact with children and families through in-person, virtual, and phone meetings.
• Coordinate referrals and community services to ensure ongoing stability and support.
• Complete required documentation, reports, and case records.
• Collaborate with agency staff, community partners, and stakeholders.
• Promote cultural sensitivity, teamwork, and family-centered practices.
• Transport clients and travel for agency business as needed.
