Job summary

Northern Rivers Family of Services is seeking a Foster Care Home Finder in Schenectady, NY to recruit, train, certify and maintain foster and pre-adoptive homes for children from birth through age 21.

You will report to the Foster Care Recruitment Coordinator and work on-site, coordinating orientation meetings, processing certifications, and providing ongoing support to foster families. A Bachelor's degree and NY driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, sociology, psychology, education or related field.
• At least two years of related experience.
• Requires a valid New York driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Participate actively in community activities and events to recruit foster parents.
• Develop an active recruitment plan for recruiting foster parents.
• Handle inquiries and applications from potential foster parents.
• Facilitate all orientation meetings with potential foster parents.
• Complete all paperwork for the certification process.
• Prepare and present NTDC training for potential foster parents.
• Assess families’ ability to foster children as it relates to the 14 Characteristics of Successful Parents who Foster or Adopt.
• Complete home studies for all recommended foster homes.
• Conduct safety assessments to assure the health and safety of foster homes.
• Coordinate annual holiday party and a foster parent appreciation event as retention efforts.

Education
