Job summary

State of Tennessee is seeking a Foster Care Support Specialist for the Department of Children's Services. The role supports foster families, licensing, evaluation, and ongoing guidance to kinship and traditional placements, currently based in Lewis County.

The position requires a bachelor's degree and relevant experience in counseling or case management, with substitutions allowed for graduate study. A criminal background check and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to three years of professional work in one or a combination of counseling or case management services, two years of which must be with children/juveniles.
• Graduate coursework may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis, up to one year, with no substitution for the two years of children's services work.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of foster homes (25-35) including kinship and traditional placements.
• Maintain complete electronic records for all assigned foster homes.
• Conduct monthly in-person home visits to assess compliance and safety and provide guidance.
• Complete monthly support calls to out-of-state homes to monitor placement stability.
• Monitor and troubleshoot payment-related matters for all foster homes on the caseload.
• Assist with approval and full home study processes for new traditional homes.
• Collaborate with kinship team to support kinship foster home approvals.
• Complete full approval reassessments every two years and annual anniversary assessments.
• Track foster parent training hours to ensure compliance.
