Job summary

Firefly Children & Family Alliance is seeking a dedicated professional to support youth and families across intake, assessment, and ongoing case management in Indiana. You will conduct visits, coordinate services, and collaborate with schools and courts to ensure positive outcomes.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, state social service system knowledge, and strong documentation skills. Travel within the community is expected; competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field.
• Three years of paid supervised casework experience or one year with an LCPA or one year of graduate training in social work.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points.
• Ability to travel between appointments to service clients.
• Knowledge of state social service systems.
• Confidentiality practices.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to engage diverse communities.
• Develop networks of contacts.
• Adept prioritization and time management.

Responsibilities

• Coach families and monitor progress (50%).
• Visit youth/family on a routine and pop-in basis.
• Assist youth/families in achieving goals; provide education and support.
• Provide transportation to youth/families.
• Attend court with clients and render recommendations.
• Communicate with schools and institutions involved with youth/family matters.
• Respond to crisis calls and manage crises.
• Create and update plans with goals for each youth/family.
• Develop community agency networks; refer to appropriate services.

You Will:

• (Family Progress - Monitoring and Coaching (50%)
• Coach collaboratively – maintaining a balance between teaching and serving
• Visit each youth/family on a routine and 'pop in' schedule
• Assist youth/families in achieving their goals
• Provide education and support to youth/families
• Provide transportation to youth/families
• Attend court with clients and render recommendations
• Communicate with schools and multiple institutions related to youth/family matters
• Respond to all crisis calls and manage those situations
• Create plans, including goals, for each youth/family
• Update plans and goals
• Develop a network of relationships with agencies in the community
• Work collaboratively with other social welfare agencies
• Refer when appropriate to community agencies based on needs

Intake and Needs Assessment (15%)

• Determine 'crisis' situations
• Visit each youth/family to gather necessary information to complete the assessment
• Adhere to and follow Firefly Children & Family Alliance professional standards

Report (15%)

• Maintain case and agency paperwork according to standards
• Prepare written reports for the Department of Child Services / Probation office within identified time frames

You Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a directly-related human service field from an accredited college. Case work in an LCPA plus.
• At least one of the following:
  • Three years of paid supervised casework experience
  • One year of paid casework experience with a Licensed Child Placing Agency (LCPA)
  • One year of graduate training in recognized school of social work
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• A valid driver's license and insurance with no more than 6 points on driving record
• Ability to travel between appointments to service clients within their community
• Knowledgeable regarding social service systems within the state
• Knowledge of and adherence to current confidentiality practices
• Appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences
