Job summary

Firefly Children and Family Alliance in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Foster Care Case Manager to collaborate with our treatment team and community agencies, providing service to children in foster care, including work with foster families and biological families, offering critical needs assessments, prevention and intervention services, and progress monitoring.

This role serves Madison, Hamilton and Hancock counties and involves direct contact with children under our supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field from an accredited college.
  • At least three years of paid supervised casework experience, or one year with an LCPA, or one year of graduate training in social work.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance with no more than 6 points on driving record.
  • Ability to travel between appointments within the community.
  • Knowledge of social service systems within the state.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to current confidentiality practices.
  • Appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences.
  • Develop relevant networks of contacts.
  • Clear, effective communication and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Family Progress - Monitoring and Coaching (50%)
  • Coach collaboratively - maintaining a balance between teaching and serving.
  • Visit each youth/family on a routine and 'pop in' schedule.
  • Assist youth/families in achieving their goals.
  • Provide education and support to youth/families.
  • Provide transportation to youth/families.
  • Attend court with clients and render recommendations.
  • Communicate with schools and multiple institutions related to youth/family matters.
  • Respond to all crisis calls and manage those situations.

Firefly is currently seeking a Foster Care Case Manager in Indianapolis, IN. In this position you will collaborate with our internal treatment team as well as community agencies to provide service to children in foster care (including work with foster families and biological families), providing critical needs assessments, prevention and intervention services, and progress monitoring. This position will serve primarily Madison, Hamilton and Hancock Counties.

This position will have, or has the potential to have direct contact, on a regular and continuing basis, with children who are under the direct supervision of the agency.

Responsibilities

Service Plans / Goal Development (20%)

  • Create plans, including goals, for each youth/family.
  • Update plans and goals.
  • Develop a network of relationships with agencies in the community.
  • Work collaboratively with other social welfare agencies.
  • Refer when appropriate to community agencies based on needs.

Intake and Needs Assessment (15%)

  • Determine 'crisis' situations.
  • Visit each youth/family to gather necessary information to complete the assessment.
  • Adhere to and follow Firefly Children & Family Alliance professional standards.

Report (15%)

  • Maintain case and agency paperwork according to standards.
  • Prepare written reports for the Department of Child Services / Probation office within identified time frames.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a directly related human service field from an accredited college. Case work in an LCPA plus.
  • At least one of the following:
    • Three years of paid supervised casework experience.
    • One year of paid casework experience with a Licensed Child Placing Agency (LCPA).
    • One year of graduate training in recognized school of social work.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance with no more than 6 points on driving record.
  • Ability to travel between appointments to service clients within their community.
  • Knowledgeable regarding social service systems within the state.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to current confidentiality practices.
  • Appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences.
  • Develop relevant networks of contacts.
  • Clear, effective communication skills.
  • Adept prioritization and time management abilities.
