Job summary

Wellspring Lutheran Services in Traverse City seeks a part-time Foster Care Case Aide to support children and families during the foster care journey. You will help with parenting time visits, transportation, and family support services to promote safety and connection.

You will work with foster care professionals to assist children and families, provide consistent encouragement, and document important information to support case plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with children and families is helpful but not required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance.

At Wellspring Lutheran Services, we're looking for Foster Care Case Aides who want to support children and families as they work toward stronger, healthier relationships and brighter futures. As a Foster Care Case Aide, you'll work alongside foster care professionals to support children, parents, foster families, and caregivers throughout the foster care journey. You'll help facilitate parenting time visits, provide transportation, assist with family support services, and help create positive, safe experiences for children and the people who care about them. Many people begin in this role with little or no child welfare experience. What matters most is your ability to connect with others, treat people with dignity and respect, and genuinely care about helping children and families succeed. Most importantly, you'll be part of work that helps children maintain important family connections and supports families as they work toward positive change.

What Your Impact Will Look Like

• You'll help children and families stay connected by coordinating and supporting parenting time visits and other important family interactions.
• You'll create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and valued during family visits and activities.
• You'll encourage positive interactions and help families build on their strengths through coaching, support, and consistent encouragement.
• You'll transport children and families to appointments, visits, and other activities that are important to their case plans and goals.
• You'll observe, document, and communicate important information that helps the foster care team provide effective support and services.
• You'll work directly with children and families from diverse backgrounds, helping create positive experiences that contribute to long-term success.
• Some days you'll be helping a child get to a visit with their parent.
• Other days you'll be supervising family interactions, assisting with community activities, supporting case managers, or helping ensure children and families receive the services they need.

Schedule

Part-time Flexible schedule with regular evening and weekend availability required to support parenting time visits and family schedules. Travel throughout the service area for visits, transportation needs, and family support activities. Schedule may vary based on client needs and program requirements.
