Job summary

Impellam Group is seeking a senior Lead E&C professional to drive engineering and construction participation in gas project technology evaluation, due diligence, and early development through procurement and execution. You will ensure construction perspectives are integrated into technology selection, risk management, and contract strategy, and lead bid evaluations across major EPC/EPCM scopes.

You will coordinate with E&C experts, manage risk, and partner with procurement and project teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is required.
• 8+ years in energy project development or large capital construction with leadership experience.
• Experience in EPC/EPCM project delivery, cost estimating, scheduling, and risk management for gas projects.
• Experience in major equipment and EPC/EPCM contract procurement including bid evaluation and negotiation.
• Able to lead through ambiguity in early-stage development and communicate with executives and public officials.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of select projects to ensure timely completion with cost-effective and competitive results.
• Participate in gas project technology and commercial due diligence, evaluating commitments, constructability, interconnection, and cost positioning.
• Identify and document E&C risks including balance-of-plant configuration, supply chain, and site constraints.
• Provide input into OEM and contractor meetings, site visits, and technology assessments.
• Coordinate with E&C experts to evaluate balance-of-plant and interconnection requirements, including switchyard, gas/water supply, and emissions compliance.
• Lead technology review, capital estimate, project schedule development, and Preliminary Engineering phases.
• Maintain a risk register and report on scope, schedule, cost, and constructability risks.
• Lead procurement support activities with Integrated Supply Chain, including RFQ input, scope review, and bid evaluation.

Job description

Lead engineering and construction (E&C) participation in gas project technology evaluation, commercial due diligence, and project development. Serve as the primary E&C technical and commercial representative across project phases from early development through procurement and execution, ensuring construction perspectives are integrated into technology selection, risk management, and contract strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of select projects to ensure timely completion with cost-effective and competitive results
• Lead E&C participation in gas project technology and commercial due diligence, evaluating commercial commitments, constructability, site integration complexity, utility interconnection requirements, and preliminary cost positioning across competing technologies and configurations
• Identify and document E&C-specific technology and commercial risks, including balance-of-plant configuration alternatives, supply chain availability, and site-specific civil and interconnection constraints
• Provide E&C technical and commercial input into OEM and contractor meetings, site visits, and technology assessments
• Coordinate with E&C subject matter experts to evaluate technology-specific balance-of-plant and interconnection requirements, including switchyard and transmission infrastructure, gas and water supply requirements, and waste water and air emissions compliance
• Lead E&C participation in Technology Review, capital estimate and project schedule development, and Preliminary Engineering phases
• Maintain a Risk Register tracking scope, schedule, cost, and constructability risks
• Proactively identify when scope changes introduce E&C cost or schedule risk
• Lead E&C participation in commercial offtake agreement negotiation, site permitting, and interconnection processes
• Partner with Integrated Supply Chain on procurement support activities including RFQ input, scope review, and bid evaluation for major equipment and EPC/EPCM scopes
• Lead bid evaluation activities, including cost comparison analysis and identification of material variances as risk indicators
• Lead bid recommendation and contract negotiation activities to execute highest value contracts with acceptable risk levels
• Lead schedule development, cost benchmarking, cashflow modeling, and risk-adjusted cost positioning in support of project sanction decisions
• Maintain and report on the E&C gas project risk register to ensure leadership visibility into emerging risks and mitigation actions
• Support process improvement within E&C project development workflows

Requirements - education & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in energy project development or large capital construction with demonstrated leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
• Experience in EPC/EPCM project delivery, cost estimating, schedule development, and project risk management for gas generation projects
• Experience in major equipment and EPC/EPCM contract procurement including bid preparation, evaluation, negotiation and award
• Proven ability to lead through ambiguity in early-stage, origination-led development programs
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders including executive management and public officials

Nice-to-have / preferred skills

• Experience with combined cycle or simple cycle gas development across multiple geographies and regulatory environments
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project or Primavera project management and scheduling software
