Job summary

Cogniify, Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployment Engineer to build and deploy AI-powered solutions that automate accounting and finance workflows.

You will work directly with customers to understand their processes, connect their systems and translate business needs into working solutions. You will support customers through technical evaluation, proof-of-value development, production deployment and ongoing adoption.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of relevant experience in forward deployment, solutions engineering, or similar roles.
• Strong Python programming skills with backend experience in Java/Kotlin.
• Hands-on SQL and data quality troubleshooting in production.
• Experience with agentic AI, LangChain or LangGraph, MCP, multi-agent workflows, RAG and vector stores.
• Experience with OpenAI, Gemini or Anthropic models, including prompt design.

The Role

Cogniify islooking for a Forward Deployment Engineer to build and deploy AI-poweredsolutions that automate accounting and finance workflows. You will workdirectly with customers to understand their processes, connect their systemsand turn business needs into working solutions.

You will supportcustomers through technical evaluation, proof-of-value development, productiondeployment and ongoing adoption. The work combines hands-on engineering,enterprise integrations, agentic AI and a practical understanding of accountingprocesses.

You should becomfortable building with customer data, troubleshooting production issues andexplaining technical decisions to both finance leaders and engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

• CustomerDiscovery & Scoping: Work with finance and ITteams to understand the chart of accounts, close calendar, subledgers, ERPsystems and process gaps. Identify data-readiness, integration and scope risksearly.
• Proof-of-ValueDevelopment: Build working solutions using theprospect’s data and systems, with real integrations and measurable output. Helpestablish realistic deployment scope and effort.
• TechnicalEvaluation: Assess architecture, security,compliance and integration feasibility. Support RFP responses and technicaldiscussions with IT and accounting teams.
• Business Value& Communication: Explain the technical approachand expected return on investment to CFOs, Controllers and otherdecision-makers.
• AI AgentDeployment: Design and deploy customer-specific AIagent configurations to reduce manual accounting work, support faster close andstrengthen controls.
• ProductionTroubleshooting: Debug Python, SQL, APIs, webhooksand configuration issues across customer systems. Own escalations involvingintegrations, data flows and automation logic, meet agreed SLAs and provideEngineering with clear context.
• Customer Adoption& Expansion: Serve as the technical point ofcontact for finance leaders during workflow redesign and adoption. Usedemonstrated results to support expansion and renewal discussions.
• Product Feedback& Reusable Assets: Share structured customerfeedback with Product and Core Engineering. Turn deployment experience intoplaybooks, implementation guides and reusable components.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–6 years of relevant experience in forward deployment,solutions engineering, technical consulting or a comparable role involvinghands-on customer implementation.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience inJava or Kotlin for backend services and integrations.
• Hands-on SQL skills and experience investigating dataquality, data flows and production issues.
• Practical experience with agentic AI, includingLangChain or LangGraph, MCP, multi-agent workflows, RAG and vector stores.
• Experience using OpenAI, Gemini or Anthropic models,including prompt design and tool-use integration.
• Experience building enterprise integrations using RESTAPIs, GraphQL and webhooks.
• Working knowledge of accounting processes, includingchart of accounts, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, AP/AR, revenueand expense recognition, multi-entity close and internal controls.
• Understanding of ERP-to-general-ledger data flows andexperience with NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or equivalentsystems.
• Ability to support technical evaluations and carrysolutions through to production deployment.
• Ability to manage several deployments, leadtroubleshooting calls and turn unclear needs into requirements understood byfinance and engineering teams.
• Clear communication and confidence working with CFOs,Controllers, accounting leaders and IT stakeholders.
• A demonstrated implementation or technology-deliverytrack record. Audit experience should include hands-on systems, process ortransformation delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience at Deloitte, PwC, EY or KPMG in Consulting,Advisory, Technology or Finance Transformation.
• Experience delivering ERP or financial-closeimplementations, finance-system integrations, internal controls or SOX-relatedprojects, or data and AI solutions within finance functions.
• Experience working at a customer site during amulti-month deployment.
• Domain knowledge in construction accounting (jobcosting, WIP and retainage), nonprofit fund accounting, manufacturing costaccounting, wealth and investment accounting, healthcare revenue cycle,franchise or field services.
• Background in high-growth SaaS, applied AI, fintech orERP/accounting software.
