Job summary

Tenera Labs, Inc is seeking a Forward Deployment Engineer in San Francisco to translate client context into robust simulation environments. You will be closest to customers, scoping deployments, configuring simulations, and delivering results that drive business decisions.

This role requires hands-on engineering, building data pipelines and API connectors, and collaborating with product teams to improve deployment playbooks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with API, database, and cloud experience.

Job description

Every simulation Tenera runs depends on context: who the users are, what the product does, how the business measures success. The Forward Deployment Engineer is the person who gets that context right. You will be the closest person to our customers, responsible for translating their business reality into simulation environments that produce results worth acting on.

This is not a support role. You will scope deployments, architect integrations, and own the quality of every simulation that ships to a customer. When a client trusts Tenera enough to change a product decision based on our output, that trust starts with the work you did to set it up correctly.

02 What You’ll Do

• Own customer deployments end to end. From scoping the engagement through environment setup, simulation configuration, and delivery of results that drive decisions.
• Architect simulation environments that faithfully represent each client's product, user segments, and business logic. Get the context right so the output is credible.
• Build the domain model for each customer. Understand their users, metrics, competitive landscape, and decision‑making process at a depth that earns their confidence.
• Write production-quality integration code. Data pipelines, API connectors, custom tooling. Whatever is needed to connect Tenera to the client's systems cleanly.
• Close the feedback loop between customers and product. Identify patterns across deployments, surface unmet needs, and shape the roadmap with evidence from the field.
• Hold the quality bar. Every simulation that reaches a customer must match their observed reality. You are the last line of defense before delivery.

03 What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role: solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting, or a comparable position where you owned outcomes, not just tickets.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals. You write clean code, debug complex integrations, and work confidently with APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. You can run a room, write a clear spec, and build trust in the first meeting.
• Sharp product instincts. You recognize when something is off before the customer tells you, and you know how to fix it or
• Comfort operating in ambiguity. You will be defining the deployment playbook, not following one.
• Experience with experimentation platforms, data analysis, or user research is a meaningful advantage.
