Job summary

W3 Sourcing seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with AI/fintech customers in San Francisco, delivering tailored production-grade solutions using the core platform and data.

You will own pilots end-to-end, collaborating with engineers and customer stakeholders, and travel to sites as needed to unblock deployment and accelerate value delivery.

This role requires hands-on coding in Python/TypeScript, strong problem decomposition, and a high sense of ownership in a fast-growing environment.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Several fast-growing AI and fintech companies are building Forward Deployed Engineering teams to turn complex customer problems into deployed, production-grade solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Embed with enterprise customers to understand workflows, technical constraints and measurable business outcomes.
• Prototype, build and deploy tailored solutions using the core product platform, APIs and customer data.
• Own pilots and production rollouts end-to-end, including scoping, architecture, implementation and adoption.
• Translate field learning into reusable product capabilities and clear feedback for engineering and product teams.
• Communicate credibly with engineers, operators and senior customer stakeholders.
• Travel to customer sites when necessary to unblock deployment and accelerate value delivery.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Strong hands‑on software engineering ability, ideally in Python, TypeScript or another production language.
• Experience delivering technical solutions directly with customers or internal business stakeholders.
• Excellent problem decomposition, product judgment and comfort with ambiguous environments.
• Ability to build prototypes quickly and convert successful prototypes into maintainable systems.
• High ownership, concise communication and willingness to be accountable for customer outcomes.
• Availability to work in San Francisco and travel periodically.

PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

• Prior FDE, solutions engineering, consulting engineering or technical implementation experience.
• Experience with AI agents, LLM orchestration, data pipelines or regulated industries.
• Founder, early‑stage employee or substantial 01 project experience.
