Archangel Autonomy Ltd. is seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer to adapt and deploy vision and language models for compute efficiency at the tactical edge. You will collaborate across teams, build solutions with our codebase, and travel to customer sites to test and deploy systems.

The role requires strong ML fundamentals, Python expertise, and experience with Docker, LLMs, and ML tooling. On-site in Syracuse, NY with travel up to 30% and a clear path to impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in CS, SE, math, physics, or ML, or equivalent experience.
• Strong Python skills; Java or C++ experience is valuable.
• Experience in Linux and AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, embeddings.
• Solid ML foundation: evaluation, training, problem decomposition.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, deployment scripts, and model serving.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, Hugging Face, llama.cpp, Ollama, vLLM, and vector DBs Milvus/FAISS/Qdrant/Chroma.
• Able to understand complex systems and work across teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willing to travel up to 30% and work on-site in Syracuse, NY.
• U.S. Person status.

Salary: $105,000 - 145,000 per year

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Machine Learning, or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming skills, especially in Python; Java or C++ experience is valuable.
• Experience developing in Linux environments and building applied AI solutions using LLMs, generative AI, RAG, embeddings, or related technologies.
• Strong machine learning foundation, including evaluation, training, and problem decomposition.
• Experience with Docker, networking, deployment scripts, local model-serving tools, and building reliable systems with logging, crash recovery, automated testing, CI/CD, and field diagnostics.
• Familiarity with tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face, llama.cpp, Ollama, vLLM, and vector databases such as Milvus, FAISS, Qdrant, or Chroma.
• Ability to quickly understand complex systems and established codebases, troubleshoot problems, and work across software, hardware, UI, and operational teams.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to own features end-to-end in a small, fast-moving team.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% for field work and to work in person in Syracuse, NY.
• U.S. Person status.
• Nice to have: experience with NVIDIA platforms, CUDA, TensorRT, Android or Java, ATAK/TAK systems, mesh networks, distributed communications, low-bandwidth or disconnected environments, secure software development, remote system troubleshooting, rapid prototyping or 3D printing, electrical or mechanical systems, or military systems and tactical communications.
