Forward Deployed Product Manager, Internal Tools & Automation
Builds AI-assisted workflows and prototypes with AI agents; rapid experimentation with AI in internal tooling.
About the Role
Giga Energy is hiring a Forward Deployed Product Manager to build internal tools, integrations, automations, and AI-assisted workflows that make physical operations reliable and fast. You will embed with operators, define records and decision rules, and partner with engineers to deliver measurable improvements in cycle time, accuracy, and visibility.
Job Description
Role
Forward Deployed Product Manager, Internal Tools & Automation focused on Business Systems & Automation. Embed with operators to discover how work actually happens, define core records and decision rules, and partner with engineers to deliver integrations, deterministic automations, AI-assisted workflows, and internal tools that improve speed, accuracy, and visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Discover and document critical workflows by working directly with operators.
- Define records, identifiers, lifecycle states, owners, decision rules, and exceptions that make workflows reliable.
- Use SQL and direct data inspection to reconcile records, test assumptions, and identify data-quality issues.
- Map information flows across systems, spreadsheets, documents, APIs, and manual handoffs.
- Identify where deterministic automation or AI assistance can improve outcomes; prototype with permissions, human review, and failure paths.
- Sequence changes, integrations, automations, and tools into small releases that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Write workflow briefs, requirements, data contracts, acceptance criteria, and decision records.
- Partner with engineers on architecture and delivery while owning the business outcome, roadmap, and adoption.
- Lead rollout, training, migration, and support planning; retire replaced workarounds.
- Measure releases by cycle time, accuracy, visibility, control, and manual effort.
- Establish practical permissions, auditability, and data-handling controls.
- Maintain a roadmap prioritized by business value, risk, dependencies, readiness to adopt, and engineering capacity.
- Keep distributed stakeholders aligned through concise writing, clear decisions, and focused sessions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience owning a cross-functional workflow or internal product from ambiguity to delivery, adoption, and measurable results.
- Strong process-discovery skills and ability to surface undocumented rules, exceptions, and ownership gaps.
- Practical fluency with relational data concepts (entities, identifiers, joins, grain, relationships, lifecycle states, lineage, data quality).
- Ability to write and review SQL to inspect, join, reconcile, and validate operational data.
- Working knowledge of APIs, integrations, authentication, events/webhooks, failure handling, and system boundaries.
- Strong product judgment to scope releases and prioritize what to build or decline.
- Experience collaborating with software engineers while owning business outcomes and adoption.
- Track record of influencing teams whose priorities you do not directly control.
- Clear written communication and ability to build trust with operators, leaders, and technical teams remotely.
- Hands-on experience designing, prototyping, or shipping workflow automation, including AI-assisted tools, with judgment about deterministic logic vs. AI vs. human review.
Nice-to-have / Bonus
- Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, logistics, construction, or project delivery.
- Experience connecting commercial, operational, procurement, and financial records.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, HubSpot, order-management or procurement platforms, or RFQ workflows.
- Experience building internal products, data products, enterprise applications, or operational platforms.
- Experience improving data quality in live operations and retiring spreadsheets/local tools.
- Familiarity with role-based access control, auditability, and secure read/write interfaces.
- Hands-on experimentation with AI agents and local/hosted/hybrid model architectures and a reasoned point of view on reliability, permissions, observability, cost, and maintenance.
