EQL Tech is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to sit close to state agencies, banking partners, and auditors in San Francisco, CA, joining in‑person to turn complex reporting requirements into a correct, auditable system that adapts to changes on two weeks’ notice.

You will own the regulatory and banking‑partner reporting surface, build reconciliation, design a money movement flow, and help shape a multi‑service payments platform handling billions in state‑funded education payments.

Qualifications

• Translate ambiguity from state agencies or banking partners into concrete system designs.
• Ensure correctness and avoid history loss during retries; validate in the database.
• Build predictable systems even when requirements shift unexpectedly.
• Owns money-movement responsibilities and end-to-end accountability.

Responsibilities

• Own the regulatory and banking‑partner reporting surface with audit trails.
• Build daily loan‑tape and originations pipelines and reconciliation tooling.
• Design a money movement flow with deterministic replay and idempotency.
• Minimize operational risk with guardrails for new states and partners.
• Lead Payments Systems Architecture across a multi‑service monorepo.
