Job summary

PortX is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to configure integrations for banks, Fintechs and credit unions on the PortX platform. You’ll map data, configure connectors, and drive measurable outcomes in a high-impact, customer-facing role.

You’ll run discovery workshops, translate use cases to concrete requirements, and ensure end-to-end mapping accuracy with PortX tools. This role combines technical depth with direct customer impact.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in integration, implementation, solutions engineering or technical consulting.
• Strong data mapping skills; read API specs (REST/SOAP, JSON, XML) and map schemas.
• Experience configuring an integration platform or iPaaS (MuleSoft, Boomi, Jitterbit, Workato).
• Can run workshops and translate conversations into clear requirements.
• Writes clear product requirements and bug reports.
• Comfortable with API tools such as Postman and reading logs for troubleshooting.
• Uses AI tools to speed up mapping, analysis and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Run discovery workshops with customer stakeholders (remote or on-site).
• Map customer data to PortX canonical model (ORCA) and ensure end-to-end accuracy.
• Configure integrations using PortX tools and ORCA-Gateway.
• Validate integrations with data and UAT support; sign-off against criteria.
• Collaborate with Account Manager on sequencing and commitments.
• Identify platform gaps and write clear requirements to drive delivery.
• Create reusable templates from frequent patterns; maintain mappings.
• Triage issues and reproduce steps; separate configuration vs platform defects.

Job description

PortX is a leading AI-powered data and integration company for modern banking, bringing systems together and data to life through our unified platform for modern integration, governed customer 360 data, and next-generation payments.

We're in strong growth mode, PortX is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to configure integrations for our bank, Fintechs and credit union customers on the PortX platform. You’re an extension of the PortX platform self-service capabilities: you configure on the customer’s behalf, map their data, and drive measurable outcomes. This is a high impact role, customer facing and you’re joining PortX at an opportune time.

Day to day responsibilities include:

• Run discovery workshops with customer business and technical stakeholders, remote or on-site, to capture use cases, data flows and success criteria.
• Map customer core and vendor data to the PortX canonical model (ORCA), and own mapping accuracy end to end.
• Configure integrations using PortX’s connector library, ORCA-Gateway and platform tooling.
• Validate integrations with the customer: test data, UAT support and sign-off against the agreed success criteria.
• Partner with the Account Manager on sequencing, priorities and customer commitments.
• Identify platform gaps, write them up as clear requirements with customer context, and track them through to delivery with the Platform team(s).
• Spot repeat patterns across customers and turn them into templates and reusable configurations.
• Triage customer-reported issues, isolate configuration problems from platform defects, and route defects with clean reproduction steps.
• Keep each customer’s mapping and configuration documented so anyone can pick it up.

Required skills:

• 3+ years in integration, implementation, solutions engineering or technical consulting.
• Strong data mapping skills: comfortable reading API specs (REST/SOAP, JSON, XML) and translating between schemas.

Nice to have:

• Banking, credit union or payments experience: core systems (Jack Henry, Fiserv, FIS, Corelation), digital banking, ACH, ISO 20022.
• Familiarity with integration frameworks (e.g., Apache Camel) or scripting, enough to read them rather than build with them.
• Background in a customer-facing technical role such as sales engineering or implementation consulting.
