Job summary

LMI Consulting, LLC is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (SPECTR) to deploy, configure, and extend our DoD-focused asset visibility platform. You will work directly with DoD users, translate mission needs into technical solutions, and drive field deployments across customer environments.

Expect hands-on software engineering, systems integration, and API work, with 50-75% travel and a requirement for an active DoD clearance. Remote work from the U.S. is supported.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
• 4+ years of software engineering, systems integration, or similar technical experience.
• Strong development skills in C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs and working with relational databases/SQL.
• Hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting production software.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS GovCloud.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed system troubleshooting.
• Ability to translate ambiguous customer requirements into working technical solutions.
• U.S. Citizenship required and willingness to travel 50-75%.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, integrate, and validate SPECTR in customer environments.
• Work directly with DoD users to understand mission workflows, technical constraints, and operational pain points.
• Integrate SPECTR with customer systems, APIs, databases, data sources, networks, and mission applications.
• Build production-quality integrations, APIs, scripts, automation, and software capabilities to solve field requirements.
• Troubleshoot issues across applications, databases, containers, cloud infrastructure, networking, and connected edge systems.
• Support technical demonstrations, pilots, field tests, and operational deployments.
• Partner with Field Product Leads to translate operational needs into technical solutions and Capability Requests.
• Work with core engineering teams to transition useful field-developed capabilities into the SPECTR product.
• Document configurations, technical solutions, and lessons learned to make future deployments faster and more repeatable.
• Travel approximately 50-75% to DoD installations and other customer locations.
