Transfyr Bio is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with scientists and partners, translating messy scientific data into actionable insights. You will work in Cambridge, MA, collaborating with Field Application Engineers to ensure the full system delivers valuable results.

Ideal candidates combine wet-lab fluency with software prototyping, strong product judgment, and a bias toward learning from users. This role offers unusual ownership and growth opportunities in a startup setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in wet lab or complex scientific environments.
• Ability to prototype in Python and work with APIs, data pipelines, or simple product interfaces.
• Experience turning field evidence into a clear product or technical direction.
• Comfort working with messy, multimodal, or time-series data.

Responsibilities

• Embed with scientists to understand experimental intent, execution, exceptions, failure modes, and tacit knowledge.
• Write code, analyze data, configure tools, and create lightweight product workflows solving immediate user problems.
• Help partners move protocols between experts, new operators, and sites; capture deviations and variability.
• Translate customer observations into clear software, perception, AI/ML, hardware requirements and priorities.
• Own deployment outcomes and ensure value beyond installation; deliver actionable insights for customers.
• Build reusable methods, tools, and artifacts to speed future deployments and scalability.
• Lay groundwork for automation by turning execution data and expert judgment into troubleshooting agents.
