Job summary

DocketX is seeking an engineer to work between writing code and direct customer interaction. This remote role involves deploying DocketRouter, configuring it in customer environments, and explaining verification workflows to lawyers and stakeholders.

You will travel to customer sites, collaborate with law firms and in-house teams, and feedback learnings to improve the product and its corpus.

Qualifications

• Experience building and shipping software with customers directly involved.
• Comfort with APIs and reading published API docs.
• Ability to explain technical systems clearly to non-engineers such as lawyers.
• Willingness to travel to customer offices regularly.
• Interest in legal research, court records or structured document domains.

Job description

You work directly with law firms and in house legal teams to build on DocketRouter and get it running inside their workflows. This is an engineering role with regular customer contact, including travel to customer sites.

About DocketX

DocketX builds verified legal AI. Every citation the system produces is checked against 18,123,788 real citations before a lawyer sees it, and citations that cannot be verified are blocked. Our products include DocketRouter, a legal research API that law firms build on, with retrieval over real law, verified citations, an audit trail and published API docs, and DocketBuster, which helps people who go to court without a lawyer by explaining each step of a hearing along with the rule behind it. We also publish an open corpus on Hugging Face of 7,149,641 court opinions covering all 50 states, DC, the Supreme Court and every federal circuit in one uniform format, plus complete state law bundles with opinions, statutes and court rules together for California, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina and North Dakota, with Wisconsin in progress.

The role

You spend your time between writing code and talking with customers. On a given week you might scope a research workflow with a litigation lead, write the integration code against DocketRouter, and then walk a general counsel through the audit trail so their team can see how a citation was verified. You travel to customer offices when it helps, and you handle the follow up work when you get back. Because the team is small, you also bring what you learn back to the engineers who build the retrieval and verification systems.

• Work with managing partners, general counsel and litigation leads to understand how their research and filing work actually happens
• Deploy and configure DocketRouter in customer environments, including the state law bundles they rely on
• Explain how citation verification and the audit trail work to technical and non technical customer teams
• Travel to customer sites for scoping sessions, deployments and training
• Report customer needs and failure cases back to the engineering team so the product and the corpus improve

What we are looking for

• Experience building and shipping software with customers directly involved, such as solutions engineering, forward deployed engineering or consulting engineering
• Comfort working with APIs, including reading published API docs and writing client code against them
• Ability to explain technical systems clearly to lawyers and other non engineers
• Willingness to travel to customer offices on a regular basis
• Interest in legal research, court records or other structured document domains
