Job summary

Hippocratic AI in Palo Alto seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer Resident to own autonomous clinical conversations from prompt design to EHR integrations. You will ship improvements to live workflows, craft prompts, and collaborate with clinicians for safety and patient experience.

Initially, you will spend 6 months as an FDE Resident and 6 months as an Associate FDE, with opportunities to move into engineering or product.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
2+ years of professional industry experience in software development, AI/ML, or related technical roles.
Strong Python proficiency with hands‑on production code experience.
Experience with LLM prompting through professional work or substantial personal projects.
Experience building integrations with databases and RESTful APIs, including async patterns and error handling.

Responsibilities

Develop advanced prompts for conversation planning using prompting techniques to enable complex workflows.
Engineer conversation logic balancing clinical accuracy, safety guardrails, and patient experience.
Design and build integrations connecting conversational agents to EHRs, scheduling systems, and telephony platforms.
Collaborate with clinicians, product managers, and engineers to translate clinical requirements into conversation designs and iterate based on feedback.
Conduct experiments and analysis on model outputs, prompts, and conversation strategies to measure impact on safety scores and patient satisfaction.
Maintain and improve the conversation codebase with version control, testing, and safe production rollout.
