Job summary

Bertram Capital is seeking an innovative Forward Deployed AI Engineer to work directly with portfolio companies, identifying opportunities to apply AI to real business challenges. You will prototype lightweight AI workflows and hand off scalable solutions to core engineering teams.

Ideal candidates have an engineering degree, 0–2 years of experience, and a strong interest in business and investing. You will collaborate across management and Bertram Labs to drive value and adoption of AI

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of professional experience, newly graduated candidates encouraged.
• BS or MS degree; engineering degree preferred.
• Strong engineering mindset with interest in business, operations, and investing.
• Extremely comfortable with AI technologies; stays up-to-date with generative AI developments.
• Exceptional communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical leaders.
• Experience working cross-functionally and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Identify operational bottlenecks at portfolio companies and ideate high-impact AI workflows.
• Rapidly build, test, and iterate AI prototypes/PoCs using LLMs and other AI technologies.
• Package prototypes with clear technical requirements for handoff to engineering teams.
• Ensure solutions drive ROI and operational efficiency across portfolio companies.
• Collaborate with management and Bertram Labs to build internal tools.
