Job summary

Handshake is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer for Handshake AI Enterprise in San Francisco. You will embed inside enterprise environments, owning the full stack from solution definition to deployment, with domain focus that grows over time.

You’ll work with Product and Platform teams to deliver reliable, production-grade AI agents that drive real business outcomes. You’ll be part of a fast-moving founding team, collaborating across engineers, scientists, and operators.

Qualifications

• 1–4+ years of engineering experience, full-stack with strong backend depth.
• Real-world experience building and shipping AI applications in production.
• Strong understanding of agent architectures, evals, and measurement of AI performance.
• Comfort working directly with enterprise customers in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
• High ownership mentality and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Embed directly with enterprise customers as part of a small deployment team and understand their workflows.
• Define AI-driven solutions based on real business needs.
• Build and deploy production-grade agents tailored to customer use cases, owning end-to-end delivery.
• Design and run evals to measure agent performance and iterate to improve results.
• Become a domain expert in the customer's vertical and apply that expertise to AI improvements.
• Collaborate with Product and Platform engineers to ship cohesive, reliable solutions.
• Establish engineering best practices and reusable frameworks for scale.
• Surface deployment insights to inform Handshake's platform and roadmap.
