Baseten is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer in Seattle to partner with customers to architect, build, and deploy high-scale AI applications on Baseten’s platform. You’ll translate ambiguous business goals into reliable, observable services with clear quality, latency, and cost outcomes.

This role blends engineering, product management, and customer success, requiring hands-on coding (Python) and collaboration with sales, implementation, and expansion teams to ship production-ready features and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• 2+ years of professional work experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages in production, with a strong preference for Python.
• Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines and deployment lifecycle.
• Strong communication skills for complex technical topics.
• Experience building or optimizing AI/ML projects is valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software systems and features in production environments, with Python preferred.
• Guide customers end-to-end from problem framing to production deployment and monitoring.
• Deliver with velocity by turning objectives into well-defined PoCs and shipped services.
• Enhance AI/ML projects and contribute to the technical stack.
• Own customer projects end-to-end, acting as engineer, PM, and product lead.
