Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, material/pharmaceutical science, chemistry, or related discipline.
• 4+ years hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Participate in customer formulation development projects and development of new drug delivery technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Evaluate emerging drug delivery technologies to expand internal R&D capabilities.
• Mentor and guide junior scientists and technicians in the lab.
• Perform unit operations for solid dosage form manufacturing (dry granulation, fluid bed processing, tableting, coating).
• Document batch records and development reports in compliance with SOPs and GLP.

FreeThink Technologies, Inc. conducts laboratory studies for domestic and international clients in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, veterinary and consumer product industries, and develops its own novel technologies addressing unmet medical needs. FreeThink scientists operate in a fast-paced environment on multiple concurrent projects involving stability-indicating analytical method development, complex formulation development, rapid shelf life determinations using ASAP prime® software, cGMP stability studies, and creative problem solving.

We are seeking a full-time, hands-on Formulation Scientist/Engineer II/III to work in our laboratories in Branford, CT. This role is suited for individuals with experience in and passion for drug development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

• Participate in customer formulation development projects (primarily pharmaceutical) and development of new drug delivery technologies as a hands-on laboratory scientist/engineer
• Collaborate with cross-functional teamincluding analytical development and project management to ensure seamless project execution
• Evaluate emerging drug delivery technologies (e.g., lipid-based systems, amorphous solid dispersions, targeted release mechanisms) to expand internal R&D capabilities
• Mentor and guide junior scientists and technicians, fostering technical growth, scientific rigor, and operational excellence within the lab
• Execute hands-on unit operations for solid dosage form manufacturing, including dry granulation, fluid bed processing, tableting and coating
• Author and review batch records, current practices and technical sections for development reports
• Ensure work is performed in compliance with SOPs and good laboratory practices
• Document laboratory work in a clear, detailed, and organized manner
• Compile and analyze results using spreadsheet and statistical analysis programs

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, material/pharmaceutical science, chemistry, or related discipline
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new software applications
• Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis for any employer without the need for sponsorship

COMPENSATION

• The base salary for this position is $90,000-110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
