How You'll Make An Impact

As a Formulation Scientist, you’ll help drive the next generation of high-performance chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) technologies that support critical infrastructure around the world. In this highly visible role, you’ll combine materials science, formulation expertise, advanced analytics, and hands‑on laboratory research to transform innovative ideas into commercial solutions. Working alongside cross‑functional teams across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Service, and Commercial functions, you’ll leverage data-driven insights, predictive tools, and scientific problem‑solving to accelerate product development, optimize performance, and deliver meaningful value for customers.

If you’re energized by solving complex technical challenges, exploring new technologies, and influencing products from concept through commercialization, this is an opportunity to make a measurable impact on both the business and the industries we serve.

In This Role, You Will
  • Design, develop, and optimize CPVC formulations for new product development and existing product enhancement initiatives.
  • Apply Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and data-driven methodologies to understand formulation‑performance relationships and accelerate innovation.
  • Generate, analyze, visualize, and interpret technical data to provide actionable insights that support product development and business decisions.
  • Lead laboratory formulation activities using advanced processing, analytical, and material characterization techniques.
  • Develop and improve digital workflows for capturing, organizing, and leveraging experimental data across projects.
  • Utilize predictive modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics tools to support material development and technical problem solving.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, technical service, and commercial teams to successfully scale products from concept to commercialization.
  • Ensure products meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, certification standards, and performance objectives.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to business leaders, customers, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a collaborative culture by mentoring colleagues, sharing technical expertise, and supporting continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor's degree, or 3 years of relevant industry experience with a master's degree or Ph.D., in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Data Science for Materials, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer science, formulation development, and structure‑property relationships.
  • Experience designing and executing experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical methodologies, and scientific problem‑solving techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate, organize, analyze, and interpret complex technical datasets.
  • Experience applying data analytics, statistical analysis, or predictive modeling to materials, formulation, or product development challenges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, Power BI, advanced Microsoft Excel analytics, and scientific data analysis software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear business recommendations.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments and travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward
  • Experience in polymer, plastics, specialty chemicals, or advanced materials industries.
  • Knowledge of CPVC, PVC, ABS, PVDF, PEX, polyethylene, high‑density polyethylene, polyurethane, polycarbonate, or related polymer systems.
  • Experience with extrusion, molding, compounding, foaming, sheet production, or related manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using Python, R, JMP, Minitab, MATLAB, or similar tools for scientific data analysis and modeling.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN), Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI, Power BI, or comparable digital platforms.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive modeling, or digital transformation initiatives in research and development environments.
