Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator in Hanover, VA to support concrete pipe production. You will weld, fabricate, repair, and modify metal forms and tooling, reading blueprints and measurements to ensure precise assembly.

This role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Day 1 benefits and growth opportunities accompany this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational degree preferred.
• 1–3 years welding/fabrication industry experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, specs and work orders.
• Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math.
• Experience with welding equipment, cutting torches, saws, grinders.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Weld, fabricate, repair, and modify metal forms, molds, and production equipment used in concrete pipe manufacturing.
• Build and repair forms, tooling, and components supporting production operations.
• Perform metal cutting, fitting, grinding, and fabrication using shop tools.
• Inspect forms/equipment for wear or damage and repair as needed.
• Read blueprints and measurements to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
• Collaborate with production/maintenance to address equipment issues.
• Operate welding/fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area per company policies.
• Support continuous improvement for safety, quality, and productivity.

What You'll Do

• Weld, fabricate, repair, and modify metal forms, molds, and production equipment used in concrete pipe manufacturing

What You'll Need

• 1-3 years of welding, fabrication, or related industrial experience
• Experience with welding, metal fabrication, and steel form repair techniques
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure, use measuring tools, and perform basic mathematical calculations
• Experience using welding equipment, metal cutting torches, saws, grinders, and other fabrication tools
• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated safe work habits and commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED required
