Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience building and assembling wood or metal forms for concrete structures.
  • Ability to read structural, civil, and architectural drawings for layout and elevations.
  • Previous use of concrete tools and equipment is required.
  • On-the-job training and advancement into leadership roles are available.

Responsibilities

  • Build and/or assemble wood or metal forms for concrete floors, slabs, walls, and other structures.
  • Measure, cut, and fabricate lumber; install form ties, walers, bracing and blockouts.
  • Strip, clean, oil, and stack forms for reuse.
  • Interpret drawings to determine layout dimensions.
  • Set and erect forms to proper elevations and locations using various forming systems.
  • Verify accuracy with tape measure, plumb bob, or carpenter’s level.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for higher structures.
  • Observe and comply with all safety policies and guidelines.
  • Assist with concrete placement as needed.

General Description:

The Form Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks associated with prepping, pouring, placing, and finishing concrete. Tasks include erecting and setting forms for concrete structures, buildings, and site work per specifications and drawings. This may include concrete tilt-wall forms and/or structural forms for columns, decks, elevator cores, parking garages, and other cast-in-place concrete structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and/or assemble wood or metal forms for the construction of concrete floors, slabs, walls, columns, tilt-walls, elevated concrete slabs, elevator cores, stairways, etc.
  • Measure, cut, and fabricate lumber and plywood; install form ties, walers, bracing, and blockouts
  • Strip, clean, oil, and stack forms for reuse
  • Interpret structural, civil, and architectural drawings to determine layout dimensions.
  • Set, place, and erect forms to proper elevations and locations using a wide variety of materials and forming systems
  • Verify accuracy of structures using tape measure, a plumb bob and/or carpenter’s level
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
  • Observe and comply with all safety policies and guidelines
  • Assist with concrete placement as needed

Requirements:

  • Previous use of concrete tools, equipment and machines
  • Current valid drivers license and pre-employment drug screen
  • Ability to work off-shift hours and overtime as required
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights multiple levels above ground
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred — training provided
  • Union scale wages with overtime opportunities
