Job Description

Perform routine and complex forklift and other material handling equipment (MHE) repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the warehouse. Provide maintenance support to ensure operational objectives are met. Troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment and other powered industrial equipment. Oversee and monitor outside service providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance/repair of forklift and MHE electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Rebuild or replace major components such as mast, undercarriage, transmissions, engines/motors.
• Inspect forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment for OSHA and operational standards compliance.
• Maintain batteries and chargers according to OSHA standards.
• Test and evaluate equipment performance using instruments like voltmeters and ohmmeters.
• Conduct safety equipment tests to ensure OSHA compliance.
• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records in the CMMS system.
• Keep work area organized and clean, perform housekeeping duties.
• Share knowledge and train less experienced technicians.
• Work flexible shifts, including on-call hours.
• Perform related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of forklift maintenance experience or 4+ years of general mechanic experience (auto, diesel, truck/trailer).
• Complete technical/mechanical training; HAZMAT certification required.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in cold storage environments.
• Specialized forklift maintenance training (e.g., Crown, Raymond).
• Technical certifications or degrees.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills, component-level diagnosis.
• Experience with Oracle CMMS.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in temperatures from -20°F to outdoor conditions.
• Work at heights over 35 ft., climb ladders and stairs.
• Stand, walk, push, pull, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch.
• Lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Use hand and power tools.
• Vision abilities: close, distance, color, depth perception.
• Work nights and weekends; pass physical and respiratory exams.
