Job summary

Owens Corning North Platte is seeking a forklift operator to move raw materials and finished goods safely around the plant, ensuring efficient production flow and compliance with safety rules.

You’ll work first shift 6:00am-4:30pm, stand long hours, and collaborate with a team while maintaining records and following English communication standards.

A High School diploma, prior forklift experience, teamwork, and strong work ethic are required; familiarity with MS Word/Excel is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to move product and raw materials within the plant.
• Coordinate removal of sawdust and trash with external vendors when required.
• Perform pre-shift forklift inspections and ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and assist with related duties as needed.
• Work extended hours or overtime when business needs require.

Pay: The hourly pay rate range for this position is 24.64 + benefits. Base pay will vary within the range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is specific to North Platte and may not be applicable to other locations.

What your day in this role might involve at OC-North Platte:

Overview

To adequately and efficiently transport product, raw materials, etc. from location to location within the manufacturing facility. Ensure all product is transported in a safe manner.

• Safely and efficiently empty trash throughout the plant multiple times per day
• Coordinate sawdust removal and trash removal with outside companies
• Conduct pre-shift inspection of the forklift to ensure safety and operational compliance
• Provide safe operation of forklift throughout the facility. Abide by all safety rules and regulations required with forklift operation
• Must be able to work extended hours and overtime as needed if business need requires
• Replace pallets/runners as necessary to maintain a safe working environment
• Will also perform other related duties as assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the job description
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Other duties as assigned

There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:

• Stand for 10 - 12 hours straight
• Required to mount and dismount forklift multiple times per day
• Climb and descend forklift as needed
• Lift 50 pounds as needed
• Do repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg; bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lift, push and pull 60 pounds)
• Withstand exposure to temperature extremes; sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
