Job summary

SUDDEN SERVICE INC seeks a full-time Diesel Mechanic for our Cloverdale, VA location. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain lift trucks and related equipment, including gasoline, diesel, and propane engines, using diagnostic tools and welding when needed.

Three years of diesel/hydraulic experience and the ability to read technical drawings are required; a welding test is encouraged for future promotions.

Qualifications

• Vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
• Three years on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics; schooling can substitute.
• Welding test is encouraged to pursue future promotions.

Responsibilities

• Inspects lift trucks and equipment to determine repairs.
• Performs repairs on gasoline, diesel, and propane engines with minimal instruction.
• Inspects, adjusts, and repairs components as needed.
• Repairs cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems using diagnostic tools.
• Performs preventative maintenance to improve fleet condition.
• Operates equipment to troubleshoot and test as needed.
• Maintains records of all maintenance performed.
• Assists parts department in shipping and receiving of motor freight.
• Takes service calls and provides assistance when the Service Manager is unavailable.
• Cleans and maintains the garage area; other related duties as required.
