Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator to efficiently sort, load and unload freight on a busy dock. You will operate pallet jacks and forklifts, secure cargo inside trailers, and maintain safety on a non-climate-controlled dock.

The role requires 18+ years old, basic math, and the ability to work day, evening, night and weekend shifts. Preferred candidates have dock/warehouse experience in transportation and forklift experience in an LTL environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends due to varying freight volumes.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift.
• Secure freight inside trailers with appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work safely and in compliance with company safety policies.
• Scan and track shipments using mobile handheld devices.
• Work on a dock not climate-controlled for extended periods.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Forklift Operator at XPO

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

• Pay starts at $26.05/hour

What you’ll do on a typical day

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
• Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods

Forklift Operators are required to

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
