Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator to join our dock team in New York. You will efficiently handle and move freight using pallet jacks and forklifts, ensuring safe and secure loading and unloading of trailers.

The role requires 18+ years of age, basic math skills, and the ability to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Prior dock/warehouse or forklift experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry (preferred).
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment (preferred).
• Experience loading and unloading trailers (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies.
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
• Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods.

About the Forklift Operator job

Pay, benefits and more:

• Expected pay range: $22.85 to $28.10 per hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set
• Competitive and comprehensive benefits options available for those scheduled to work 30 hours or more/week
• This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
