Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator at our Rockford, IL dock. You will efficiently sort, handle and load freight, operate forklift and pallet jack, and use handheld devices to scan shipments.

This role requires the ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends, and to comply with safety policies. We offer competitive benefits for eligible employees and a structured pay progression.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Forklift Operator at XPO

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

About the Forklift Operator job

Pay, benefits and more:

• Expected pay range: $23.43 to $28.81 per hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set
• Afternoon Shift, Day/Hours: Monday through Friday 1600-2200
• Competitive and comprehensive benefits options available for those scheduled to work 30 hours or more/week
• This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position

What you’ll do on a typical day:

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
