Job Purpose

National Compensation per hour: $18.86, $19.78, $20.77

Bonus Plan: None

Our Forklift Operator will receive, store, and distribute material and products within the establishment by performing various warehouse functions.

Job Responsibilities

• Read customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Inspect forklift equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, etc.
• Process clear and accurate paperwork.
• Convey material and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items.
• Assemble customer orders from stored places, place orders on pallets, or convey orders to the shipping department and load material onto a truck.
• Count items to ensure conformance to company standards. Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Mark materials with identifying information.
• Open bales, crates, or other containers if needed.
• Record the amounts of materials or items received or distributed. May use computer to enter inventory records.
• Prepare parcels for mailing.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write short correspondence.
• Forklift certification is a plus.

Work Experience

• At least 2 years working in a warehouse environment. Distribution warehousing experience preferred.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED.

Working Conditions

The work environment requires working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse with potential exposure to cold, heat, damp, humid conditions, loud noise, dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and vehicles.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, twist, and carry 50-75 pounds; manipulate up to 160 pounds with equipment; work with skids up to 2,000 pounds.
• Walking, standing, sitting when operating equipment, lifting, stooping, kneeling as described.
