Job summary

Crest Steel is seeking a Forklift Operator I to perform material handling and equipment operation in our metals processing facility. Under close supervision, you will move, locate, and store materials using forklifts and other handling equipment, ensuring accurate order pulling and safe, quality-focused execution.

The role requires adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced plant, clear communication with crane operators and drivers, and day-to-day responsibilities like inventory tagging,

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
• Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
• Basic measurement skills for length/width/height/weight.
• Basic arithmetic skills for decimals and fractions.

Responsibilities

• Complete basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
• Locate, retrieve, and return material using forklift equipment.
• Perform and document daily pre-use forklift inspections.
• Operate equipment safely in a high-traffic yard environment.
• Communicate with crane operators and drivers using hand signals or radios.
• Ensure load stability and clear path before movement.
• Tag material for proper identification and complete documentation.
• Move material from receiving/production to storage or designated areas.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
