Job summary

USG is hiring for a forklift operator in our Indiana plant. You will safely operate a forklift to load and unload materials, interpret customer orders, and stage shipments.

You will record shipping data and assist with basic maintenance as needed, contributing to safety and continuous improvement initiatives. You must be able to adapt to shift work, weekends, and overtime as required while maintaining accurate data entry and robust teamwork with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Able to safely operate a forklift in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to inspect and troubleshoot the forklift to detect issues and maximize operational availability.
• Ability to interpret verbal instructions and written documents such as customer orders.
• Ability to apply basic computer skills required for data entry and reporting.
• Proficiency in accurately recording shipping data.
• Proficiency in taking necessary measurements to verify the product is within specifications.
• Possess basic maintenance skills needed to help service equipment.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills are needed with all co-workers.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety/housekeeping requirements within a plant warehouse setting.
• Use of forklift to load or unload finished products and raw materials to/from trucks and the production line in a timely manner.
• Interpret customer orders to pull, stage, load, and check materials in a manner that ensures accurate and timely shipment.
• Recording of shipping data and other results in the manner required.
• Troubleshoot and apply basic maintenance skills to help service equipment.
• Active participation in plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.
• Adaptable to scheduling requirements, including shift work, overtime, weekends as applicable.
• Ability to load Flatbed, Vans, and Hub containers.
• Familiar with warehousing procedures.
