Job summary

Domtar is seeking a Forklift Operator at our Miami (Florida) facility. This full-time permanent role requires operating powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials, moving items to storage areas and ensuring safe handling and storage of goods.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent, forklift certification per OSHA standards, and prior warehouse experience. SAP familiarity and RF scanner use are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate powered industrial trucks to load/unload and move materials.
• Transport materials to designated areas per production/shipping schedules.
• Load/unload goods from trucks and stack in storage bays.
• Inspect and secure loads, perform daily equipment checks and lubrication.
• Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.

The location in Miami, (Florida, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Forklift Operator DC. This job is full-time permanent.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into trucks or storage facilities.
• Obtain copy of production schedule or shipping order and transports material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
• Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks
• Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates along with parent rolls with clamp trucks around the storage facility
• Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
• Checking loads are secure
• Stacking empty pallets
• Performing daily equipment checks including safety inspections and lubricating fork trucks
• Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines
• Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
• Dumping materials into machine hoppers
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:

• Basic math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
• High degree of attention required to prevent damage or injury to others; promote a safe work environment
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
• Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
• Maintain a clean & safe environment
• May be required to use RF scanner gun
• Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license required
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards
• Physical demands and abilities
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
• Have a good sense of balance, eye-hand-foot coordination
• Ability to assess weights, judge distances and heights
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
• Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as requested by the supervisor to support departmental or company operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent.

SAP experience preferred but not required

2 years’ previous job experience.
