Job summary

Domtar is seeking a Forklift Operator for our Miami, FL DC facility. This full-time position involves loading and unloading materials, transporting goods within the plant, and ensuring safe operation of forklifts. You will follow production schedules, verify loads, and maintain accurate records.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, OSHA forklift certification, and basic computer skills. Previous SAP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate powered industrial trucks to load/unload materials and move them within the facility.
• Transport materials based on production schedules and shipping orders.

• Inspect equipment and perform daily safety checks on forklifts.
• Verify loads, secure them, and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support operations.

The location in Miami, (Florida, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Forklift Operator DC. This job is full-time permanent.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into trucks or storage facilities.
• Obtain copy of production schedule or shipping order and transports material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
• Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks
• Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates along with parent rolls with clamp trucks around the storage facility
• Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
• Checking loads are secure
• Stacking empty pallets
• Performing daily equipment checks including safety inspections and lubricating fork trucks
• Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines
• Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
• Dumping materials into machine hoppers
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:

• Basic math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
• High degree of attention required to prevent damage or injury to others; promote a safe work environment
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
• Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
• Maintain a clean & safe environment
• May be required to use RF scanner gun
• Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license required
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards
• Physical demands and abilities
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
• Have a good sense of balance, eye-hand-foot coordination
• Ability to assess weights, judge distances and heights
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
• Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as requested by the supervisor to support departmental or company operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent.

SAP Experience Preferred But Not Required

2 years’ previous job experience.
