Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in Kentucky is seeking a warehouse associate to unload trucks, store materials and support inventory cycles. You will operate a forklift, assist with counts, and help uphold GMPs and food safety while keeping the warehouse clean and organized.

The role requires attention to detail, basic math, and effective communication with team members. Prior warehouse exposure is helpful but not required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 months related experience in a warehouse preferred.
• Forklift certification and PIT operation training completed.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: Unload trucks and put incoming material away. Supply Aseptic with their packaging materials. Help with cycle counts and month ending counts of ingredients and packaging. Help with UPS and FedEx outgoing packages and deliver incoming packages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help with UPS and FedEx outgoing and incoming packages daily. Make sure that accounting gets all the paperwork for UPS and FedEx.
• Help with monthly inventory and help accounting with any questions they may have about inventory counts.
• Communicate to accounting, purchasing and inventory analyst know of any damages or credit material.
• Load and unload trailers of product, packaging or equipment and verifying that all counts of product are accurate to the bill of lading and order information.
• Inspect all inbound pallets and document quality of pallets and product on inspection report.
• Ticket and verify counts and quality of all inbound product frozen, fresh and packaging materials.
• General warehouse duties including keeping warehouse clean and orderly.
• Help with rotation of inventory to ensure that the oldest product is used first.
• Operate fork truck in safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain daily log sheets as required, such as forklift inspection sheets.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
• Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
• One to three months related experience and/or training experience preferred in a warehouse setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• The successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck training program and pass the forklift certification.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

• Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words in English and between series of numbers.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
• Computer knowledge or the ability to learn the following computer programs Excel, Outlook and SAP
• Ability to speak effectively on the phone or before groups of customers and/or employees of our organization
