Job summary

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an experienced 1st shift Forklift Operator for our Ellsworth, KS location. The role runs Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with overtime on Fridays as required.

Responsibilities include forklift operation, loading/unloading, inventory tracking, and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate has proven forklift experience, strong teamwork and communication skills, and a solid understanding of safety regulations and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift operator experience is required.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Must follow all safety regulations and wear PPE.
• Good written and verbal communication; team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials using forklift or manual methods.
• Stack, move, and store products to designated locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and production records.
• Inspect forklift daily and report any safety issues or malfunctions.
• Assist with parts receiving and routing as needed.
• Support loading/unloading during shipments and deliveries.

The Role:

Great Plains Mfg is seeking an experienced 1st shift Forklift Operator at our facility in Ellsworth, KS.

This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with overtime on Fridays as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, forklift, hoist or crane.
• Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Secure lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signal crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
• Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet or computer while maintaining accurate inventory quantities.
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials; mark information on cases, bales, or other containers.
• Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together.
• Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist; clean work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
• Assemble crates to contain products, such as parts or products, using handtools and precut lumber.
• Understanding and use of AS400 and RF units to find location of parts, routing, product structure and parts availability.
• Assist in receiving of parts from vendor and route truck.
• Assist with cycle counts as needed.
• Daily inspection and safe operation of forklift.
• Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous forklift operator experience is required
• Ability to understand team concepts and be a strong team player
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to excel in fast-paced, high-pressure situations and be results-oriented
• Understanding of lean concepts and willing to implement change
• Ability to follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required
