Job summary

Pratt Industries in Sandston, VA is seeking a Forklift Operator for the 1st shift. This full-time, hourly role loads/unloads product, moves items to inventory, and supports machine feeding with a focus on safety and accuracy. You will complete required paperwork and follow all site policies.

Qualifying candidates will have a valid forklift license, strong communication and math skills, and the ability to read schedules. Expect a dynamic environment with varying temperatures and physical demands.

Qualifications

• Must have valid license to operate a powered industrial truck.
• Able to operate a lift truck safely with minimal product damage.
• Must be able to read and follow production schedules.
• Able to accurately scan load tags and maintain inventories.

Responsibilities

• Follow and ensure that fellow workers adhere to all applicable safe work policies and procedures.
• Conduct daily inspections of equipment.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
• Help feed machines and support production flow.
• Utilize scanners and ensure inventories are kept accurate.
• Ensure that all orders produced are moved to the next operation.

Job Description

Overview

• Receives product off the main banding line.
• Checks load tags and either loads the product into the specified trailer(s), or moves product into inventory.
• Moves product from inventory to machines.
• Completes the required paper work.

Primary Responsibilities

• Follow and help to ensure that fellow workers adhere to all applicable safe work policies & procedures.
• Conduct daily inspections of equipment.
• Be constantly vigilant and maintain a safe & clean work area.
• Help feed machines.
• Utilize scanners and ensure inventories are kept accurate.
• Ensure that all orders produced are moved to the next operation.
• Handle product to minimize damage.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed powered industrial truck operator
• Must be able to operate a lift truck safely with minimal product damage
• Must be able to accurately scan load tags and maintain accurate inventories
• Must be able to read and follow production schedules

Educational Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred, not required.
• Forklift license required.

Physical Demands

• The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
