Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is hiring a Forklift Operator for the Sioux City, IA area. The role focuses on operating industrial trucks to load/unload materials, and moving goods to and from storage and loading docks during the 2nd shift.

The ideal candidate will pass a written and driving test for a forklift license, maintain safety standards, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods. Overtime and multiple shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Operate industrial trucks following safety rules and instructions.
• Pass written and driving test to obtain forklift license.
• Work safely and comply with all safety regulations.
• Lift up to 50 lbs frequently and stand up to 12 hours a day.
• Willing to work daily overtime, weekends and various shifts.

Starting Wage Range: $21.61/hr and up to $24.86 Enter pay rate

Primary duties include:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating and managing industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into trucks or storage areas. They are responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift and the proper operation of the forklift at our facility, in addition to participating in cross training efforts for specific plant needs and sharing those duties with other drivers. The Forklift Operator is occasionally required to fill out bills of lading, change fuel tanks on the lift, or pick up parts, paper, objects and residue off the floor and around workstation. Duties include the completion of all required quality tests and inspections and notifying supervisors of any observed concerns in the production area related to either product handled or the safety of the facility. Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely and a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What you need to succeed:

• Ability to operate industrial trucks and follow specific directions
• Required to pass a written and driving test to obtain operator’s license
• Ability to work safely and comply with all safety regulations.
• Ability to push, pull, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis, reach, kneel, and stand for up to 12 hrs. a day.
• Required to work daily overtime, weekend work and various shifts depending on workload.
• Must be willing to work any available shift.
