Responsibilities include reading load sheets, scheduling loads, inspecting paperwork, and maintaining yard cleanliness while adhering to safety standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• OSHA forklift license required.
• Must be able to read and interpret pick tickets and invoices.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Builds safe and efficient loads from load sheets and invoices.
• Loads trucks in delivery order per schedule and regulations.
• Inspects paperwork for accuracy and completes required documentation.

Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products.Pay: $21.02-$23.27 hourlyThe Forklift Operator supports our Mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork by safely and efficiently loading truss packs for our drivers to deliver. The accuracy of loads is key to save time and money for the company, so the load builder is an important component of the Parr team. As needed, the Forklift Operator assists other yard employees.The Forklift Operator reports directly to Production Manager. They interact daily with yard employees, Plant Ops Lead, Customer Service Employees, and Truck Drivers.Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuilds safe and efficient loads of building materials by correctly reading load sheets and invoicesLoads trucks in order of delivery schedule and in accordance with local and state laws and regulationsEnsures loads are complete and all items on paperwork are loaded on truckLoad and off-load company trucks with building materials both by hand and with a forkliftChecks loads for banding order and quality, reports any quality issues to management and/or helps to fix the issue.Puts stock awayClears racks when needed so build tables can continue to produce without delayStages floor packs so they are ready when logistics comes to get them, loads floor packs onto logistics trucksReceive delivered inventory by properly inspecting paperwork for accuracy and by depositing inventory in designated locationsOpens and closes yard as neededKeeps forklift cleanEnsures that appropriate paper work is completed as per company policyCheck all paperwork for accuracy.Maintain yard cleanliness during course of dayPerform other related duties as assignedJob KnowledgeKnows product substitutions, shares that knowledge, and always applies the knowledge to building the loadCross trains as other positions in the yard to fill in as needed or ableProactively seeks to learn products and application for end userCompletes required online training as necessarySafetyUnderstand weight limits and length limits for company’s fleet of trucks as to safely and lawfully load trucksWears proper high visibility and safety gearSafely operates equipment and always honks horn and looks before backing or rounding blind cornersPerform daily safety audit of forklift and promptly report any malfunctioning equipmentParticipates in safety committee when necessaryConsistently follows company safety protocolsEncourages coworkers to follow best practices with safetyProactively brings safety issues to the attention of the ManagerTeamworkReports on issues when neededWhen errors occur, identifies order input errors and passes that information along to management and/or dispatchAssist Customer Service employees maintaining yard cleanlinessPartners with all coworkers: sales, yard, management and uses those relationships to solve problemsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent preferredOSHA Certified Forklift LicenseAbility to speak, write, and read English requiredKnowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materialsAbility to read and interpret “pick tickets” and invoicesAbility to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environmentClass C driver’s license or alternative transportation preferredShoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, made of leather or composite material, and have ankle support requiredInterpersonal SkillsAbility to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environmentDemonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive business matters with internal and external customers of all types.
