Job summary

Manpower Group in Traverse City, MI is seeking a Material Handler to support warehouse operations for a leading industrial client. The role involves reading work orders, verifying parts, loading and unloading materials, and tagging containers.

A strong safety mindset and clear communication are essential. Two shifts are available: 1st shift 6 am–2 pm and 2nd shift 3 pm–11 pm, with pay ranging from $19–$21 per hour based on shift.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating forklifts.

  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work independently.
  • Knowledge of receiving and warehouse/material handling methods.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders and identify materials to move.
  • Verify part numbers and inspect shipments for discrepancies.
  • Load/unload materials from trucks and pallets.
  • Attach labels/tags to containers and move materials as required.
  • Operate lift trucks safely and professionally with customers and co-workers.

Our client, a leading organization in the industrial sector, is seeking a Material Handler to join their team. As a Material Handler, you will be part of the warehouse operations supporting logistics and supply chain functions. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Material Handler

Location: Traverse City, MI

Pay Range: $19-21/hr based on shift

Shift:
1st shift 6 am to 2 pm
2nd shift 3 pm to 11 pm

What's the Job?

  • Read work orders via onboard computer and follow oral instructions to identify materials and products to be moved
  • Examine received materials, verify part numbers, and check for discrepancies such as damaged or incomplete shipments, implementing ISO procedures as needed
  • Load and unload materials onto or from trucks, trailers, pallets, racks, etc., by pushing, pulling, lifting, or stacking, either manually or with equipment
  • Convey materials or products from storage or work sites to designated areas, attaching identifying tags or labels to containers
  • Operate lift trucks safely and efficiently, moving levers and pedals to control lifting apparatus and relate professionally with customers and co-workers.

What's Needed?

  • Experience operating forklifts required
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures
  • Knowledge of receiving, warehouse, and material handling methods
  • Consistent, hands-on forklift operating experience and a strong track record of safety and reliability
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
