Job summary

Alter Trading Portage facility is seeking a dependable Forklift Operator for 1st shift, Monday–Friday with occasional weekends. You will support daily yard operations by operating forklifts, unloading scrap metal, sorting materials, and ensuring quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Ability to work in an outdoor, industrial environment.
• Knowledge of scrap metal materials and grades is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other yard equipment
• Manually unload customer scrap metal
• Perform equipment inspections to ensure safe operation
• Load, unload, and sort materials
• Inspect materials to meet quality standards
• Understand and apply knowledge of material grades and acceptable loads
• Perform basic equipment maintenance
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE
• Perform other duties as assigned
