Job summary

Alter Trading Corporation in Madison, WI is seeking a dependable Loader Operator to join our 1st shift team. You will load, unload, and sort scrap materials using a loader, follow safety protocols, and perform basic equipment checks.

Qualifications

• Prior experience operating heavy machinery or driving a semi-tractor/trailer is a plus — training will be provided.
• Basic machine maintenance knowledge is a bonus.
• Ability to lift 30–50 lbs independently and 100+ lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload trucks, semi-trailers, and rail cars.
• Sort and relocate scrap materials within the yard.
• Inspect inbound and outbound loads for safety and compliance.
• Perform routine maintenance such as greasing and oil changes.
• Assist with minor crane maintenance and general labor tasks.
• Wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
