Job summary

Portland Bottling Company is seeking a dependable forklift operator for our warehouse to safely load and unload trucks and to accurately enter transactions into the ERP system as materials move to the batching team. The role requires attention to inventory accuracy, adherence to OSHA safety standards, and teamwork in a fast-paced beverage production environment.

Candidates should have at least 1 year in manufacturing and forklift operation, plus a certified forklift license and a high school

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ years of experience operating a forklift is required.
  • Certified Forklift Operator License is required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety Standards and Regulations; strong safety mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Move and operate forklift to load/unload; inspect forklift before use.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to determine material requirements and delivery dates.
  • Requisition materials and plan in-plant transfers to align with production schedules.
  • Verify material conformance to specifications and track locations.
  • Maintain manual or computerized records of inventory and movements.
  • Transport materials between departments and arrange for repairs as needed.
  • Monitor and control movement of material to ensure efficiency.

Job Summary

The forklift operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift in the warehouse as well as loading and unloading trucks. This position ensures all transactions are accurately entered into the existing ERP, moves materials both physically and in the ERP system to ensure location accuracy and will stage materials for the Batching team.

Essential Functions
  • Moves lever and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus. Inspecting the forklift before initial use. Fill and maintain all propane tanks and accessories.
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material
  • Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability
  • Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules. Computes amount of material required to complete job orders
  • Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials
  • Moves or transports materials from one department to another. Arranges for repair and assembly of material or part
  • Monitors and controls movement of material
Experience and Education Requirements
  • Communication - must have strong written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills
  • Control Precision - the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • Multi-limb Coordination - the ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing
  • Far Vision - the ability to see details at a distance
  • Manual Dexterity - the ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm or your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ years of experience operating a Forklift is required
  • Certified Forklift Operator License is Required
  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety Standards and Regulations
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Possesses a high regard for safety in the workplace is required
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is typical loud and temperatures will fluctuate from hot to cold depending on outside temperatures of our plants. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within the facilities, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
