Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Burlington, NC, seeks a Temp to Hire Material Handler working second shift (5:00 PM–1:30 AM). Pay is $16.00 per hour plus $1.00 per hour shift differential, with weekly pay and safety-focused environment.

Duties include reading WMS instructions, pulling/staging orders, and operating a stand-up forklift in a clean facility. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, at least two years of warehouse and lift experience, ability to lift 50 pounds, and

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of warehouse and powered industrial lift experience.
• Ability to read, perform basic math, and follow English safety/work instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to input data into computer systems.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and apply WMS order instructions.
• Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions affect customers.
• Identify damaged product and take appropriate action.
• Pull orders accurately as assigned.
• Stage orders and verify pallets and stage location.
• Prepare receiving, storage and shipping documentation.
• Follow safety and security policies and procedures.
• May train others in warehouse functions and operate powered equipment.
• Operate forklift or other warehouse machinery.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of two years of related warehouse and powered industrial lift experience required
• Ability to read, do basic mathematics, understand and respond to written and verbal instructions in English for the purposes of safety, work instructions, policies, etc.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted

• Work overtime as assigned

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and apply Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions
• Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer
• Recognize damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action when discovered.
• Pull orders accurately as assigned
• Stage orders according to carrier location and verify: number of pallets picked as well as stage location
• Prepare receiving, storage and shipping documentation retaining product accountability throughout the logistical process
• Be aware of and follow location and work center Safety and Security policies and procedures
• May be required to train others in various warehouse functions, including the safe operation of various powered industrial lift equipmen, perform housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned
• Operate fork-lift equipment or other warehouse machinery
