Job summary

Amcor is seeking a diligent forklift operator to supply raw materials to production, transfer finished goods to storage areas, and ensure timely loading onto trucks to meet delivery requirements. Operates and maintains forklift to supply production operations with raw materials to produce finished product, transfers finished product to storage or staging area and ensures finished product is loaded onto trucks in a timely manner to meet customers delivery requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operates and maintains forklift in a safe and efficient manner using work instructions, visual management and computer interface.
  • Supplies production operations with raw materials to produce finished product.
  • Prints and scans Bill of Lading for all finished goods using computer interface and RF scanner.
  • Inspects finished goods for quality defects.
  • Transfers finished goods to staging or storage areas.
  • Loads finished goods onto trucks in a timely manner to meet customers delivery requirements.
  • Accurately completes all written logs and data input to include closing sequences on tickets and printing Bill of Lading.
  • Ensures accurate inventory counts and notifies lead/supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal departments.
  • Removes/Reworks any damaged product on pallets.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties.

EDUCATION

High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid forklift certification, which meets OSHA requirements, is required to perform the essential duties of this job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or walk for 8- 12 hours, regularly required to sit for 8-12 hours, and is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant. The employee must also frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in outdoor weather. Safety glasses are required to be worn. The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY

Incumbent has the right to hold for inspection any product he/she feels does not meet customer/company specifications.
