Lifetime Brands, Inc. is seeking a Forklift Mechanic to maintain, repair and overhaul all types of warehouse equipment including forklifts, turrets, order pickers, reach trucks, and related machinery at our Hagerstown facility.

You will diagnose malfunctions, replace worn parts, test repaired equipment, and keep accurate maintenance records while adhering to safety and company policies. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read manuals and blueprints are essential; bilingualism is a plus

Qualifications

• Must be a certified forklift mechanic with working knowledge of maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities are required.
• Ability to work independently and stay organized in a changing environment.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Gmail for record-keeping and communication.
• Bilingual ability is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and identify malfunctions in forklifts and other warehouse vehicles.
• Repair, overhaul and replace worn parts to restore equipment performance.
• Inspect and test equipment after maintenance and before normal operation.
• Maintain maintenance records and order parts as needed.

Position Overview

Primary responsibility of the Forklift Mechanic is to maintain, repair and overhaul all types of equipment and powered industrial trucks (gas, electric, or propane), including but not limited to forklifts, turrets, order pickers, reach trucks, electric jacks, battery changer, scissor lift, boom lift, and other warehouse machinery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnose and identify malfunctions. Repair forklifts, turrets, order pickers, reach trucks, electric jacks, golf carts, and other warehouse vehicles

Disassembles, inspects and replaces worn or broken parts. Grinds and fits parts as required to maintain or overhaul motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, steering devices, brakes and wheels, lifts, hoists and hydraulic systems.

Inspects and tests equipment at prescribed intervals of time or usage, or because of breakdown or malfunction.

Change batteries or propane tanks as determined by vehicle design. Charges batteries and maintains battery fluid at prescribed level. Cleans battery connectors.

Test drive repaired equipment before turning over to operators.

Ability to learn, read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and drawing

Type records of vehicle maintenance and parts usage into a database.

Gets quotes and orders repair parts from outside vendors.

Uses trades type tools or hand tools.

Maintains electrical systems and controls.

Repaint vehicles when needed

Maintain a clean and safe work area

Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Perform related duties as assigned by maintenance manager and facility director

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

Must be a Certified Forklift Mechanic

2 – 5 years experience

High School Diploma (required)

Self-motivated, detail oriented and organized with ability to shift priorities in a changing environment

Mechanical ability to repair equipment and adapt to various types of machines.

Strong communication skills, written and oral.

Ability to work independently and self-motivated.

Computer proficient in MS Word, Excel and Gmail

Bilingual is a plus not required

Physical Requirements

Frequently involves heavy lifting, pulling (up to 60 lbs)

Works in awkward positions or lying on back on auto mechanic’s \"creeper\", working beneath the truck.
